Responsiveness-to-Intervention Symposium

December 4-5, 2003 * Kansas City, Missouri

The National Research Center on Learning Disabilities sponsored this two-day symposium focusing on responsiveness-to-intervention (RTI) issues. The speakers, discussants, and participants assembled represented the wide diversity of individuals with a vested interest in LD determination issues. Advocates, instructional staff, researchers, and state-level education officials brought their collective and considerable expertise to the discussions.

Dan Reschly

Dan Reschly is professor of education and psychology in Peabody College, Vanderbilt University where he is chair of the Department of Special Education. He has published on a range of topics, including special education system reform, overrepresentation of minority children and youth, LD classification procedures, and mild mental retardation. Dan served on the National Academy of Sciences Panels on Standards-Based Reform and the Education of Students with Disabilities (member), Minority Overrepresentation in Special Education (member), and Disability Determination in Mental Retardation (chair). He is currently co-director of the National Research Center on Learning Disabilities.
